Merano, the alpine spa town

Mediterranean palms decorate a historic spa town, colourful vineyards alternate with gentle rolling hills and the mighty Alpine glaciers of the Texel Mountain Range tower high above.

The spa town of Merano nestles in the basin of even three colourful valleys: Val Passiria, Val Venosta and Val d'Adige. Thanks to its sheltered position at the bottom of mighty mountains, the town boasts a very gentle, southern climate. Merano Thermal Baths are an outstanding oasis of health and well-being. The new baths, opened in December 2005, are inside a fascinating cube made of glass and steel rising from the grounds. Light colours, natural woods and precious stones characterise this outstanding architecture designed by renowned Matteo Thun.

But the city of Merano has to offer much more. Here you can choose from a rich number of events and sites of interest, ranging from international wine festivals and traditional town festivals to stunning museums and historical shopping arcades, the botanic gardens and oh so lovely promenades.
